We are custom and conventional envelope manufacturer located in Auburn, MA. Our company was founded in 1921 by a father and two sons named Sheppard. They were pioneers in the business, and built their own envelope folding machines from scratch.

In 1967 Linc Spaulding purchased the company and became its president, and in 1999 his son Brook became the 4th president. The presidency was no gift to Brook. His accomplishments include designing and patenting our Boomerang 2-way envelope while he was still in his early 20s, as well as being instrumental in the design and building of the machine to make it.

There is nothing our team likes to do better than make and print standard and custom size envelopes. We can make sizes as small as 1" x 1" up to 12" x 15-1/2", with and without windows. The windows can even have crazy shapes…like a house, tulip, dog or bone.
Our customers' SIC codes cover the gamut, from agriculture to manufacturing, to service industries and not-for-profit organizations, even women's apparel. Our accounts range in size from Fortune 500 companies to long-established family owned companies and e-commerce start-ups. Every account is important to us. We learned long ago that envelope business is where you find it, and sometimes that is in the least likely places.
If it's an oddball, we can make it or propose cost effective alternatives. Sometimes we can't tell whether we're in the envelope or the packaging business. Increasingly, it seems as though they are one and the same. Don't worry about quantity. Even quantities as low as 1,000 custom envelopes can have a low relative cost by solving a problem.
We are nationally known as "the source" for 2-way and miniature sizes. These are not envelopes that everyone can make, and in fact few envelope manufactures want to. More than a decade ago we decided it would make good business sense to become the market leader in these arcane products, and that decision has become reality.
The choice of paper is yours, with 24 or 28 sub white being the most common. But if you need something different call us. If it can be folded, we'll try it. Tyvek(R), for instance. even in very small sizes, is one of our specialties. As an alternative to Tyvek(R) you might want to think about PT Laminate whice is substantialy lower in cost and offers many advantages, although low weight (and therfore potential postage savings) is not one of them. Or, how about a completely transparent stock, like Canson Satin, or chlorine free kenaf, or tissue-lined papers?
We have hundreds of accounts and end-users located all over the United States ranging in size from Fortune 500 companies such as Chevron, Fidelity, and Hewlett Packard to middle market and very small mom and pop stores. Regardless of size, we bend over backwards to provide outstanding customer service. And we work well with art directors and project designers as we do traditional purchasing departments. We learned long ago that envelope business is where you find it, and sometimes that is in the least likely places. If you would like a little help in your direct mail strategy, or suggestions on layout, etc., we would be happy to share our experiences with you.
Thank you for contacting us. We look forward to applying our 79 years of envelope manufacturing expertise to work for you.
Linc and Brook Spaulding and the Sheppard Team.
